About Rabbi Brad
Australian born, Jerusalem based. Experienced educator ordained by the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. Non-judgemental and down to earth. Rabbi Brad speaks English and Hebrew, and guides families from Australia, the UK, US and Canada through their son's bar-mitzvah in Israel.

Questions families ask
We start with a call to get to know your son and your vision for his bar-mitzvah. From there we discuss the options and begin building a tailored journey around him. The build-up begins well before you board the plane. Through mentoring and guided family experiences, your son starts thinking about who he is, where he comes from and what becoming a Jewish man actually means. Then you arrive in Israel - and everything becomes real. As you build toward the bar-mitzvah ceremony, you share adventure, meaningful moments and make lifelong memories together as a family. With all the details taken care of, you can simply be present and enjoy the experience. It all culminates in a beautiful, personalized and traditional ceremony at the Kotel, the summit of Masada or another meaningful location, reflecting the energy and needs of your son and family. All that's left is to let the tears of nachas flow. You've earned them.
For sure. There's something unique about marking a bar-mitzvah at the Kotel, in Jerusalem, amongst your people. Many boys have their official bar-mitzvah in their home community and then come to Israel as a family to celebrate and make a milestone trip of it. Rabbi Brad is here to give that trip structure - to facilitate meaningful experiences and create a ceremony that works around your son and your family. No matter the level of observance, every boy and every family is made to feel completely comfortable and at home.
That's completely fine, and more common than you'd think. Plenty of the boys we work with don't read Hebrew, or aren't comfortable doing it in front of people. After all, the ceremony is not built around reading, it's built around your son. For some boys that means putting on tefillin for the first time. For others it's getting called to the Torah, dressing the Torah, being blessed by their parents, or something we create together once Rabbi Brad has gotten to know him. One thing is for sure, nobody is ever put on the spot or made to feel uncomfortable.
That's completely fine. He doesn't need to arrive inspired. The journey is designed to meet him where he is and make the bar-mitzvah feel relevant, personal and genuinely his - so that your same feelings of Jewish identity and pride have a chance to grow organically.
We suggest beginning around 6 months before the bar-mitzvah. This gives time for the journey to unfold without rushing.
